Grown in the high-altitude regions of Jinotega and Matagalpa, Tierra Madre is a beautifully balanced coffee with notes of chocolate, cranberry, honey, and hibiscus. Produced by women farmers within the Aldea Global cooperative, this offering not only showcases exceptional flavour but supports meaningful social impact.
The Tierra Madre program provides women with access to land titles and micro-loans—empowering them to invest in their farms and communities. These loans support everything from pruning and pest management to purchasing water pumps and improving farm infrastructure. An additional premium is paid for coffee grown by women, creating greater financial independence and recognition.
Aldea Global began their specialty coffee journey in 2002 after winning Nicaragua’s prestigious Cup of Excellence. Today, over 4,900 smallholder producers—many of them women—are part of this growing movement. Alongside producing high-quality, traceable lots, the cooperative also collaborates with the national women’s coffee movement to promote leadership, gender equity, and sustainable farming practices.
